How Quickly Can Someone Be Released After Bail Is Posted?

There is no single statewide release time that applies to every Washington jail.

After a bond or other required security has been accepted, the jail still has to complete its release procedures. Processing time can vary based on the particular facility, staffing, workload and the circumstances surrounding the person’s custody.

For that reason, it is better to say that release may occur within hours but can take longer, rather than promising a specific release time. That is also the more cautious wording used in the source guide.

Does Posting Bail Guarantee Immediate Release?

No. Posting bail completes the financial portion of the release process in that case, but the jail controls its own release processing.

A bail bond agent can help confirm the bond information and coordinate the posting process, but should not promise the exact minute that a jail will complete release.
