Recently I was asked how does DOG make money in Bail Bonds

In the case of “DOG”, you must understand a little about the profession of bail bonds. The people that he arrests on the show, for the most part, are from Hawaii. Those people are clients, for the most part, of the company that his wife owns. When those people fail to show up for court (FTA) the court notifies Beth and she contracts with her husband to recover them ( pick them up and put them back in jail ). The fee to get out of jail is on average 10% of the bond amount. IE 5,000 x 10 % = 500.00. The fee to recover somebody is also on average 10% ( which as I understand is rising in order to cover legal fees, licensing, fuel, etc., etc.)  Given this picture There is no money to be made for DOG or his wife in this scenario, however, if you have a tv crew following you around as you chase these people… you get paid from them. You get royalties when the shows air in syndication , you get speaking fees, etc, etc.

MEXICO - Police in Naco, Mexico, have arrested five U.S. citizens this past week. The men, Raul Arellanes Valdez, Lewis Lee Harold, Ricardo Polanco, his son Ricardo Polanco Morales, and an unidentified 13-year-old are all accused of bounty hunting, which is a criminal offense in Mexico. The charges stem from allegations that the five men detained two Mexican citizens at gunpoint and tried to get the men across the border. The men fled and the five Americans were arrested when they reentered the country to apprehend the suspects again. (The Sierra Vista Herald, May 3, 2007)

Our corporate office has seen fit to Recovery Services Group Inc. This company is a specialist in the area of Fugitive and Bail Bond Recovery. Their agents are all trained in modern arrest techniques and are thoroughly trained. We have opted to use outside agents because we believe the professionals should handle what they do best. Our company A-Affordable Bail Bonds specializes in all aspects of bail bonding, we do not want the hassles of dealing with bail jumpers and others who do not wish to treat us fairly. We bail a person out of jail we wish them to treat us with the same dignity we showed them, if you fail to appear in court then we will send the professional to pik you and return you to jail. We do our job, they do theirs. It’s a great re;ationship and we don’t have to blur the lines and we don’t send “Yahoos” to Mexico who break their laws and expect people to feel bad for them and blah, blah, blah.

LOUISIANA - Caddo Correctional Center (CCC) is now making its booking records available online in real time. From this past Tuesday, all it takes is an Internet connection to view who is being held in the Caddo parish jail. Whereas before bond professionals and family members had to call the CCC or look through masses of computer printouts in order to find the information, the facts are now easily available. This should save bond professionals significant time. The internet records will contain physical descriptions, booking photos, bond amounts, charges and any previous arrests. (The Shreveport Times, May 2, 2007)

TEXAS - A Bondsman in the Rapides Parish region was arrested this past week by members of the Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud and Auto Theft Unit. The man, Wayne Thomas, was charged with multiple counts of theft and Failure to Remit Insurance Premiums. The investigation leading to the arrest began when allegations were made that Thomas received payment for bonds, but never remitted the money to the bail bonding company. Since bail bonding is considered an act of insurance in Louisiana, the investigation was conducted by the Louisiana Department of Insurance. (Insurance Journal, May 2, 2007)

So I saw an article written about a gun that could shoot .45 bullets, buckshot and a flare. Some how the comments on the article were way funnier.

I had a pistol just like that one back when I used to live in the Arctic.

One time, a polar bear snuck up on me & i fired off a flare to scare him away. The bear stopped, looked at me and said “WTF is that about?”

Naturally, I was shocked that this bear was talking, so of course I said “A talking bear!?”

And he said “Yea, what’s it to ya?
I was like “You have no idea how close I was to killing you.”

He responded with “Yea, I get that a lot, but your flare gun isn’t anything special. You’re not going to kill me are you?”

As I was explaining how the pistol could shoot flares, buckshot and regular bullets, the bear’s friend snuck up behind me, took the gun away, then shot me in the knee.

So the moral of the story is: Never trust a talking bear, even if you have a cool pistol.

That was my favorite comment just to let you know.
